Sensual Lips
Permanent Lip Augmentation
Full lips are increasingly popular, thanks to Hollywood movie stars. The Angelina Jolie look is in and more women are seeking lip augmentation. Collagen has long been the leading agent used for lip enhancement. However, results are temporary.
For a more permanent result, PTFE facial implants have been developed.
What is the PTFE Implant?
It is an expanded porous polytetrafluoroethylene material intended for augmentation of soft tissue, such as lips and nasolabial folds (the vertical lines between each cheek and your nose). The product comes in different sizes and shapes to fit each patients particular need in a perfectly sterile package designed for single use. The surgical technique is performed in a sterile fashion.
What is Dr. Abergel's new Technique?
It is a very precise method of implant insertion designed to improve cosmetic results and patients recovery by minimizing the bruising and swelling associated with this procedure. The implant is customized to each patient, to achieve the desired results.
What is the Abergel Lip Implanter?
Dr Abergel has invented a surgical instrument with a US patent pending, the Abergel Lip Implanter. The device allows the surgeon to insert the implant in the ideal position with minimal trauma to the surrounding tissue. Therefore, results and patients satisfaction are greatly improved. The surgical time is reduced to just a few minutes. The Abergel Lip Implanter will soon be available to Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons across the country.
How do I choose the Implant?
According to the amount of augmentation desired, Dr Abergel can help you choose a shape and size most appropriate for you.
Is the Implant Permanent?
Yes, the implant is permanent.
What if I dont like the Implant?
Fortunately, if you dont like the implant, it can easily be removed without any problems
Is there any scarring?
Very small incisions are made in the lips. Tiny marks may result from the incisions; however, they are usually almost undetectable.
Is there any change in Sensation?
At first you may experience a little numbness. Then the lips regain normal sensation. The implant is usually not detectable when kissing. You may feel it when you press your lip between your fingers.
What is my Down Time?
Usually, there is moderate swelling which subsides within a few days. Most often, you can go back to work after a weekend
What are the Complications?
Complications are rare. Possible adverse reactions may include, but are not limited to inflammation, infection, migration or extrusion of the implant, hematoma, induration, seroma formation, delayed healing, and insufficient or excessive augmentation.
Cosmetic surgery, like any surgery, has some risks. Dr. Abergel will discuss the risks with you in detail to enable you to make an informed decision.
